What Keyvata collects, why we hold it, who can see it, and the choices you have over it.
Last reviewed: 17 August 2026
This is a plain-language summary of how we handle data during Keyvata's early access. It will be replaced by a full, lawyer-reviewed policy before general launch.
What we collect
We collect what an account and a booking need to work: your name and contact details, the searches and listings you interact with, messages sent through the platform, and payment references from Paystack (not your full card number).
When you verify, we collect identity documents and — for certain listings — evidence of ownership or the right to let a property. We also record device and log data to keep the platform secure.
Why we hold it
To run your account, process bookings and payments, verify identity, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who can see it
Other users see only what a booking requires — typically your first name, profile photo if you add one, and verification status. You choose in account settings whether email or phone is shown to confirmed guests or tenants.
We share data with service providers who help us operate (hosting, email, payment processing, identity verification), under contracts that bind them to protect it. We may disclose information when required by law or to prevent fraud.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active. Booking records, messages, and receipts are retained for the period needed to resolve disputes and meet tax and regulatory obligations. Identity documents may be kept for a defined period after verification, then deleted or anonymised where the law allows.
Your choices
You can access, correct, or delete much of your data from your account. Some records must be kept for legal reasons even after you close your account — for example, payment and booking history tied to an escrow dispute.
Contact privacy@keyvata.com for requests you cannot complete in the app. We respond within a reasonable time.
